Cut Me Some Slack EP123 March 30th 2016"Acrimonious Breakups" was the theme for Episode 123 of Cut Me Some Slack. We feature tales of woe, mud-slinging, and general muppetry as well as SONGS from New Order, Steely Dan, and Third Eye Blind. Enjoy the show...
Cut Me Some Slack EP122 March 23rd 2016Episode 122 of Cut Me SOme Slack focused on 3 great acts from the Southern states of the US. Kicking things off was a couple of tunes from Galactic. Based in New Orleans, the band mix together a fusion of jam rock, soul, acid jazz and something of their own. We featured a tune from Carnivale Electricos (Hey Na Na) and a track from their new album that features the fantastic Mavis Staples.
Next up, were The Marcus King Band (helped out on their way by Warren Haynes)and there's a couple of tracks from their 'Soul Insight' debut. They have a new album coming out in October, so stay tuned for that.
Closing the show were Quaker CIty Night Hakws with some great boogie blues. Enjoy the show.
Cut Me Some Slack EP121 March 16th 2016Something "old and new" for Episode 121 of Cut Me Some Slack. There's music from a great band I recently came across called The Revivalists. Based in New Orleans and taking some of those influences as well as adding their own spin on things, I enjoyed checking out their back catalogue.
Next up was another new band (to me at least) Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown. They've recently supported ACDC (although it was more Axel DC) on their most recent tour and no doubt gave them plenty of exposure. Of course, you heard it hear first ;)
FInally, we closed the show with something old and new from Kula Shaker. The band were recently at the Ansan Rock Valley Festival in Korea and were in good form by all accounts. Enjoy the show...
Cut Me Some Slack EP120 March 9th 2016Episode 120 of Cut Me Some Slack featured 3 singing guitarists connected with the letter R. A couple of great tunes from Rory Gallagher sets the pace followed by something old and new ex-Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft. We close the show with the excellent, but sadly disappeared from sight Reignwolf. Check out some of his live stuff online...
Enjoy the show
Cut Me Some Slack EP119 March 2nd 2016Episode 119 of Cut Me Some Slack (that's quite a few, eh?) features some very cool artists from the United States. A nice mix of modern country, Americana, rock, blues...all that good stuff. Both Chris Stapleton and The White Buffalo have recently released albums that I highly recommend you check out. Clutch, closed the show with something a wee bit heavier, but don't let that put you off.
Cut Me Some Slack EP118 February 24th 2016This week's Cut Me Some Slack features 3 Scottish bands - Biffy Clyro, Primal Scream, and Chvrches. At the time of broadcast, the first 2 bands were due to release new material in the near future. Instead, we focused on some of their earlier back catalogue which worked just as well. Some good tunes from both bands. Coincidentally, Biffy Clyro are playing in South Korea this weekend and they never sent me a ticket...
Closing the show we featured a couple of tunes from the excellent Chvrches- Poptastic!
Cut Me Some Slack EP117 February 17th 2016Back after a bit of a hiatus with some episodes from earlier this year. This week we featured the work of Dan Auerbach, both as a producer and as a performer.
There's music from Cage The Elephant, The Arcs (his last band project), Nikki Lane, the excellent Radio Moscow, and a few tunes from The Black Keys to close the show.
Thanks for listening...
Cut Me Some Slack EP116 February 10th 2016This week's Cut Me Some Slack centres around the theme of 'The Venue'. As well as some live tracks from Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers, Cream, and Muse, there's also room for a couple of crackers from The Zombies & The Band of Heathens.
We look at The Fillmore East/West, Wembley Stadium, Abbey Road Studios, Sun Studios, and The Albert Hall...all this and more in just under an hour...
Enjoy the show.
Cut Me Some Slack EP115 February 3rd 2016Cut Me Some Slack features 3 Canadian artists on this week's show. Sam Roberts (one track with and one without his Band), 3 tracks from The Tea Party (you'll find out where the name comes from on the show), and closing things was a classic from Martha and The Muffins.
Cut Me Some Slack EP114 January 27th 2016Cut Me Some Slack's theme for this week was Roots, Ska, Two Tone, and Reggae. We featured music from all corners of the globe (well, almost) and artists include The Heptones, The Skatalites, The Specials, The Beat, Max Romeo, and Alpha Blondy (covering Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here) to close the show.
I really enjoyed putting this episode together. Lots of cool stories to accompany some great tunes, and we even manage to sneak in some bagpipes. I hope you enjoy it.
