‘Surfboards Across America’ made a splash in Spokane, Washington last night (Wed. Feb. 20) at the sold out Gonzaga vs. Santa Clara men’s basketball game, which aired on ESPNU. At McCarthey Athletic Center, the Bulldogs received their custom surfboard to commemorate their participation in the 2013 EA SPORTS™ Maui Invitational®.

During the 8:00 timeout of the first half, Spike, cheerleaders and a Tournament Representative presented the board to Athletic Director Mike Roth. It was also available in the concourse for fan photo opportunities. The presentation aired on ESPNU, and analyst, Miles Simon, talked about his first-hand experience at the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational when he played for Arizona in 1997. Miles, and the Wildcats, defeated Boston College and Kentucky but fell to Duke in the Tournament Championship that year.
The Gonzaga flagship radio station, KGA-1050 AM, interviewed Tournament Chairman, Dave Odom, to talk ‘Maui’ with Toby Howell regarding the team's participation, fan travel packages and the upcoming field. Also, keep an eye out for the Coach Few’s television show, airing Sunday (2/24) on KHQ-TV (NBC), for additional footage of the delivery and comments from the coach.
